Olympus Digital Speech Standard 2. The most common format from Olympus and OM System professional recorders.

DSS

Digital Speech Standard. Used by older Olympus, Grundig Digta and some Philips recorders.

M4A

iPhone and iPad voice memos, and recordings from apps such as Voice Memos and Just Press Record.

WAV

Uncompressed audio, including PCM recordings from some Philips SpeechMike devices.

MP3

Already an MP3? We can still normalise the audio level and deliver a clean copy.

WMA

Windows Media Audio, found on some older digital voice recorders.

Common questions

Why can't I open a DS2 or DSS file directly?
DS2 and DSS use the Olympus proprietary codec. Standard players such as Windows Media Player, QuickTime and VLC cannot decode this format without a licensed codec pack. Our converter handles the decoding server-side, so you get a standard MP3 without installing anything.
Is the converter really free?
Yes, with no limit on file size or recording length. We offer it to help professionals who are stuck with files they cannot open. If you also need the recording typed up, the first 5 minutes are free.
Why does the converter use email?
DS2 and DSS decoding requires software that runs on our servers, not in the browser. Email is the simplest way to send us the file and receive the MP3 back without asking you to create an account or install anything.
How long does conversion take?
