About the Olympus DS-9500
The Olympus DS-9500 is a professional digital dictation recorder sold by Olympus (now OM System). It is the current flagship in the Olympus DS series, used by lawyers, solicitors, insurance adjusters, doctors and other professionals who dictate letters and reports.
The recorder saves dictation in DS2 format, the Olympus proprietary codec. Files have the .ds2 extension. DS2 requires a licensed decoder to open, which is why most transcription services cannot accept DS2 files at upload.
